About Us

The professionals of the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators 18 are the men and women who are eager to take on the challenge of building a safer, healthier, greener and more efficient world.

Along with our mechanical, insulation and fire stopping contractors, union professionals are meeting the growing demands of the modern world and are helping their clients save both energy and money. Industrial, commercial, residential and government users all demand new levels of energy efficiency, state-of-the-art fire safety, and pollutant free environments in which are vital to where we live and work.

Local 18’s proud history dates back to 1912, and has since produced a countless number of trained professionals who are the best in the business. This success comes from its members, who all receive cutting-edge training and guidance, and who understand how important their work is to our society.  They are dedicated to safety, efficiency and training.

Members of the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers 18 receive a combination of on-the-job training and classroom instruction that is unmatched in the industry. Each professional spends a minimum of 144 hours per year in the classroom, studying math, blueprint interpretation, application techniques, pattern layout, workplace safety and supervision.
