Over a century ago, Local 18 became one of the first organized groups of tradesmen to join the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers Union. Since then, our proud organization has produced countless trained mechanical insulation professionals, each dedicated to the crucial tasks of cutting our clients’ utility costs, reducing energy consumption, saving lives, and improving the quality of our communities.
Local 18 owes its success to the incredible commitment and hard work of each and every one of its members. Our team understands the value of their work to our society, and they are dedicated to safety, efficiency, and training. That’s why all of our energy efficiency experts receive extensive cutting-edge training and guidance.
Members of the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators Local 18 undergo intensive classroom instruction and safety training during our four-year BAT-certified apprenticeship program at Ivy Tech. On top of that, each member spends a minimum of 144 hours per year in the classroom for continued education, sharpening skills like blueprint interpretation, mathematics, application techniques, pattern layout, workplace safety, and supervision. At Local 18, we are committed to continuous learning and staying ahead of the curve. That dedication to education is one of the reason’s we’re the best in the industry.
Local 18 is also committed to the growth, prosperity, and development of our communities. That’s why we make it a point to share in our success by donating to a number of charities and organizations each year.
